Until Now

Until Now

The muse left me.
I felt her go.
I wanted to write, yes and
Suddenly, no.
She was there -
Word fountains flew into the air
Then rained down
Silence.
Until now.

Seaweed

Seaweed

The current of feeling held me
With mocking, murky hands
I thought the sky was water,
I thought the earth was sand.
I sank with every heartbeat,
Scattered bubbles of despair
That bobbed along my vision
Distorting any glare
Though the sun shone - I couldn't see
That curled around my heart
Were but weeds of make believe
A water-work of art.

There's a Tiger on my Bed

There's a Tiger on my Bed

There's a tiger on my bed
A predator, aware
Of feelings -
She kills what's lonely.

There's a tiger on my bed
Danger in her stare -
She hunts
The ghosts that haunt me.

There's a tiger on my bed -
Even in sleep prepared
To keep
My human company.

Adult

Adult

The best thing about
Being an adult
Is chocolate for breakfast
Because you can.

Waves

Waves

I watched the wind ride through the grass
That turned dark green as air pushed past
In waves
To greet me.

There is no water, is no sea
But on the earth, beneath my feet
The waves
Still reached me.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness

Close your eyes
Deep breath in
Deep breath out
Shoulders down.
What do you hear?
No
Sound.

Close your eyes
Deep breath in
Deep breath out
Shoulders down.
Can you hear the
Clock
Sound?

Tick.

Tock.

The sound is there but you
Were
Not.

Huntress

Huntress

She's hunting for perfection.
Her claws scour the clearing.
She preys on rocks that mock enough,
The layered landscape fearing.

She's poised, and posed, as queen.
Her paws perfectly hiding
The dirt that dared to cross her lair,
To play with in her timing.

She's alert, always aware,
Her senses ever feeling.
She never sleeps this huntress feeds
On imperfection's being.

Night lights

Night lights

I sit within a diamond
Constellation of house stars;
Made of fairy lights and candles
And gold glitter in glass jars -
A man-made galaxy
Uniting night and sky outside
With those who feel the safest
Dreaming their ideas, inside.
